Which Apple MacBook do I have

Which MacBook do I have?

You buy a case, a hub or a charger. Then it turns out to be the wrong size. That usually happens because you didn't know exactly which MacBook model you have. Below you'll find every model by series, from the latest MacBook Neo and MacBook Air M5 (2026) through to the oldest Intel models.

Tip: Once you know your model, find the right case, charger or accessory directly on our MacBook accessories page.

Identify your MacBook: choose an option

Option A MacBook is on: About This Mac

Click the top-left → "About This Mac". You'll instantly see the name (e.g. MacBook Air) and the chip (e.g. Apple M5). Fastest method if you have access to macOS.

Option B Model number in System Information

Go to "About This Mac" → "More Info" → scroll to "Model Number" (e.g. A3114). Look up that number in the tables below for exact specs.

Option C Serial number on the bottom

The serial number is engraved on the underside of your MacBook. Enter it at checkcoverage.apple.com. Apple will show you the exact model.

Option D Visual identification (MacBook off)

Look at the screen size, whether there is a Touch Bar, and the colour of the casing. The identification points at the bottom of this page will help you further.

It depends on your model. MacBook Air (M1/M2/M3/M4/M5) uses MagSafe 3 from 30W to 60W. MacBook Pro 14" needs 70W or 96W MagSafe 3; the 16" requires 140W. Apple released three new MacBooks in 2026. The MacBook Neo is a new entry-level model with an A18 Pro chip from €599. The MacBook Air M5 (13" and 15") features the M5 chip, Wi-Fi 7 and a new Sky Blue colour. The MacBook Pro M5 (14" and 16") runs on M5, M5 Pro or M5 Max; the M5 Max supports up to 128 GB RAM.
All MacBooks with Apple M1 or newer support the most recent macOS versions. Intel Macs have more limited support. Check Apple's website to see which macOS version your model supports as a maximum.
