Apple’s newest feature, the Continuity Camera

Apple's new software update, IOS 16 Beta, introduces plenty of new features and capabilities. The continuity camera is one of the features we will discuss in this blog. Do you want to learn more about the continuity camera and which accessories it requires? Then check out our Continuity camera blog right now!

What is the Continuity Camera?

We can use the iPhone camera as a webcam on Macbooks by combining macOS Ventura and iOS 16. The iPhone can now be used as a Mac webcam for a high-quality, wireless experience. You must, however, have an iPhone XR or later.

With the help of Continuity, the Mac can recognise and use an iPhone's camera when it's nearby without having to wake it up or choose it. Moreover, an iPhone can even connect wirelessly to the Mac for even more flexibility. Continuity Camera offers innovative features for all Mac computers. As the name suggests, it is part of Apple's continuity tools. The company will also be introducing a transfer feature, which allows you to easily switch between devices during a FaceTime call. So if you're FaceTime'ing on your iPhone, for example, you can place your phone near your MacBook and seamlessly transfer the call to your laptop, rather than hanging up and redialing. The iPhone's ultra-wide angle camera is also used by Continuity Camera to enable Desk View, which simultaneously displays the user's face and a top view of their desktop.

During FaceTime, every Mac with Continuity Camera has Portrait mode, among other features. The iPhone 11 or later adds Center Stage to every Mac, and with Desk View, you can use the Ultra Wide camera to show what's on your desk. Finally, the iPhone 12 or later includes "Studio Light," a video effect that dims the background while illuminating your face.

Belkin Continuity Cam Mount

Later this year, Apple will begin offering a Belkin Mount that enables you to attach your iPhone to the top of your MacBook and screens. You may use iPhone camera features like portrait mode, center stage, and studio light, a new feature that highlights your face while dimming the scene behind you, during FaceTime chats done from your laptop. Other MacOS programs like Zoom let you use your iPhone camera.
